Opera 10.60 Final Version Released

Opera has released the final version of its 10.60 web browser for Windows, Linux and Mac platforms. Loaded with HTML5 web standard compatibility, Opera 10.60 promises better security and geo-location feature within the browser. Claimed to be the fastest, Opera 10.60 also brings support for Google's future web video format - WebM.

Its shiny and tweaked interface features Opera Presto 2.6 rendering engine that makes web pages load faster and brings supports for other web standards too. For better security, Opera has incorporated security enhancements provided by AVG antivirus vendors and the browser comes with AVG's real-time Web treat feed built-in. This feed is collated from the data supplied anonymously by millions of free AVG antivirus users across the globe. So basically, if you visit a malicious code bearing website, you'll get a Fraud warning.

The new 10.60 version is about 50 percent faster than the previous 10.54 web browser version as per the Peacekeeper test. Also, this 10.60 version is the latest stable built for the Linux platform. Last stable version was Opera 10.10.

Retain Win XP System Within Windows 7

Windows 7 is easily one of the better PC operating systems from Microsoft till date, and the brisk sales as well as quick adoption by many people bears testament to this. Yet there are many among us who are still stuck with good old Windows XP simply because we have a lot of licensed programs installed on it. This article is for such people, as it will let them move their entire Windows XP installation along with all the programs installed to their new installation of Windows 7. Before you start guessing it must be made clear that this method is completely from the Windows XP mode in Windows 7 or even dual-booting systems. This has been made possible by a set of tools from VMware. The best thing is that it comes for free.

iPhone 4 So Popular, Apple and AT&T Forced to Stop Taking Orders

By now you've probably already heard that shortly after opening preorder sales of the Apple iPhone 4, both AT&T and Apple's sites went down due to overwhelming traffic but did you know that demand was so intense that Apple has halted taking orders?

After taking 600,000 preorders for the new iPhone 4 on the first day of availability alone, Apple and AT&T agreed that they have no choice but to stop taking advanced reservations amid overwhelming demand that crippled their computer systems.

Apple states that it was the largest number of preorders they have ever taken in a single day and demand proved far higher than they anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions. Apple said in a statement. "We apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock."

The company also said it hopes to start taking reservations before the launch on June 24, depending on availability but their systems will have to be heavily reconfigured before such plans can be finalized.

Apple's New Operating System Arrives

Much to the delight of users world wide, Apple released its iOS4 mobile operating system for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch, available for download from the iTunes software on june 21.

The company says the new iOS4 operating system allows users to run more than one program at once, offers a unified inbox to see all emails in one list and "smart" folders to group apps by topic.

It also supports iBooks, Apple's e-reading software, which lets customers buy an e-book online and read it on the device.
The company released iTunes 9.2 with new features, mostly for compatibility with the new iPhone 4.

Apple says iOS4 is free for all compatible devices, and can be updated through iTunes 9.2.

One Giant Leap for an iPhone

Sadly, it is now impossible to do a review of the iPhone 4 without mentioning the antenna and the reported issues when you hold the iP4 -- which is a shame because there is so much more to the iP4 than the antenna. That is not to make light of the potential issue -- I just want to point out there is much, much more to the iP4.

The flaw can cause the notebook to overheat, sometimes to an extreme degree. The recalled products are from the VPCF11 Series and VPCCW2 Series notebook computers, slightly less than half of which are in the U.S. Sony has also offered a firmware patch for the defect, Stacey Palosky, spokesperson for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, told TechNewsWorld.
